As my time in Tbilisi draws to a close, I've become retrospective, considering my most recent journey - Tbilisi, Georgia.
When I first arrived, my first task was to find somewhere permanent to live and the ever glamorous Nana Dvali drove me from one end of Tbilisi to the other, playing some semi-local musician called Tony O'Malley and I should buy his music if I got the chance.
The music was good but before I had the chance to buy my first CD, I found myself in the market for a bass guitar and needing a tour around the local music shops. Guess who turned up with his local knowledge and a CD? Tony O.
Tony, the web site looks great. I love the music on entry and the idea of the calendar (not enough gigs in Tbilisi coming up, I have to say).
You will always have friends in Tbilisi and from February, you'll have two in Lagos also. Come visit Karen and me, I hear the Afro-beat is hypnotic.

Tony, I experienced your music for the first time last night at the 606 Club. My girlfriend took me who has seen you many many times over the years. Wow, what a great night!
I bought your new CD and played it in the car this morning along with my girlfriend's copy of Sunshine Everyday. What beautiful soulful music. I hope this comes across as the compliment - it's meant to be. it was like coming across a treasure trove of undiscovered Bobby Womack tracks.

Your unexpected booking last Saturday at the Pavilion near Alexandra Palace (north London) was a real bonus for Pauline and me, thanks for asking us along. Great night seeing Brett and the Thunderbirds with Tony O'Malley on piano. Might look miles from anywhere, but these people have a great history in bringing brilliant talent to their area. (Albert Lee performs Saturday 15th).

Are you the Tony O'Malley whose dad used to work at Kodak, Harrow in the 60's? I was an office junior there at the time and used to call on the stores where Joe O'Malley worked. I used to chat to Joe and he told me his son was in a band called Arrival. He even got me a signed photo. (a very important event for me at 16!) Was it you? For those with petrol (no diesel please) in their veins, this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed was as wondrous as ever, but I never expected to be stopped dead in my tracks from admiring superb machinery by the truly wondrous sound coming from an adjacent marquee.
All thoughts of motors deserted me as I stood transfixed, until my chums suggested I take a seat and have a proper listen to...Tony O'Malley.
I was almost moved to tears by a love ballad yet to be recorded and then moved to thank Tony himself.
I now have a copy of My Foolish Heart which I played for the first time en-route to work - & oh my goodness, the version of If I Fell just blew me away! How the hell I concentrated on driving I don't know.
The patients at St Richards Hospital in Chichester have a treat in store when I introduce them to the sound of Tony and his friends during my evening broadcasts on the hospital radio service, CHR Chichester Hospital Radio.
Thank you Tony and for the kindness of the lady I spoke to at Goodwood.

Thought I recognised the guitar style from many moons ago, so wandered over & delighted to see you & band @ Goodwood Friday, sounding great in the sunshine. Hope to catch a full set somewhere sometime soon...
