Tony,

So glad to hear from you. We miss you, Femke and the kids. How is the family doing? Lilly listens to your cd in her car all the time. If you are ever in Colorado, let us know, we are just outside of Denver and would love to see you again. Take care!

Hi Tony ... enjoying browsing your website ... I see that you have been busy with the festivals ... but no sign of "Darvel Music Festival" in your calendar??? ... it's about time you were coming back up to Scotland so that we can hear you live again!! Beatrice and I have always said that we would come down to London ... 606 Club to see and hear you play ... she is in Canada at the moment ... but we start back work on Monday ... so any London trips will have to be well organised and confined to weekends ... or our October week to track you down.

Good to hear that Femke, yourself and the boys are getting on OK ... we still live in hope to see you playing live again.

Take care, and pass on our regards to the family ... Sam and Beatrice (ex Darvel Music Festival)

Hi Tony,

When you and the guys/gals were forming Kokomo in 1973, that same year I began touring with the late Donny Hathaway as his drummer. I was overjoyed to hear that this Spring, Warner Bros./France released a 4 CD set chronicling Donny’s virtuosity over the entirety of his music career before passing away on January 13, 1979.

Unfortunately, WB/USA had released this and attributed my 5 tracks, Live at Carnegie Hall/NYC (1973), to Freddie White of Earth, Wind & Fire. Thankfully, WB/France did not make this mistake this past Spring, and the commercial release is available through a variety of online retailers (of course, I got mine free since being featured and properly credited in the liner notes; and appearing on CD #4 with “Flying Easy”,” Valdez in the Country”,” Someday We’ll All be Free”,” Nu-Po”, and” Love, Love, Love”).

Working with Donny Hathaway for two years, with Bill Withers in the mix, prepared me for meeting Kokomo in Asbury Park, New Jersey, where you as the group embraced my contribution to our music back then; culminating in me joining Kokomo, recording “Rise & Shine” at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami/FL, moving to London and then signing as a member of the band under O’Rourke’s management and CBS Records. It was a wind-swept example of how synergy works when there’s motivation to work with each other. I needn’t remind you of the incredible press we received from British and European journalists. We kicked righteous butt together as a group and I still have the original reviews of our efforts, as well as the music. Our experiences both joint and several is why I'm dubbed a "lyrical" drummer till today.

Tony, I deem our near two year stint together as one of my most enjoyable musical experiences to date. It afforded me the opportunity to work with you, the group and prepared me for my return to the States where it only takes a Google to discover subsequent recording sessions with Ashford & Simpson, Roy Ayers, Diana Ross, Candi Staton and others. Since then, you know my life took a different direction in 1979 on items that dealt more with the music business and Ministry.

With that said, I’m asking that you update your Bio to at least mention my name among the others I know very well – and that personally (except Terry Stannard, who I unfortunately don’t remember ever meeting).

You’re artistry is significant: the marvelous songs, the variety of genres, uniqueness of performance, and acknowledging the commonality of “roots” from which any musician or music these days should claim.

All said, I miss seeing you, speaking with you and hope to have the opportunity to do so again - especially sitting in. That would be lovely. I'll private message Femke and you on FB with my phone number and will be able to phone you upon receiving yours.

Kindly understand that I’m very proud of you and those you work with. I just can’t bring myself to write on your marvelously updated website and Guestbook without mentioning what's on my heart. You are an incredible songwriter, vocalist and catalyst to make things happen...

Make "this" happen please: include my name among the others when mentioning tours in the U.S. and Europe. This is easily done when there’s a willingness to do so and anon.

Love ya, and please give the Gang a hearty hug from Suss!

Tony, your website makeover is excellent. The soundtracks in the background are really effective, but to control the music from the top 'bar' is especially user friendly. Like it alot, keep at it and loads and loads of luck my lad!

Well Dear Tony,
Sue and I have been right through your site and seen you with the Tbilisi Concert Orchestra on youtube and it's all so brilliant and beautiful. As you are. Your talent and ability is up there with la creme de la creme. It was also a joy for me to see Ash Soan again and Adam Phillips. Please convey my admiration to them. I became a happy hermit on Skopelos. We are happy. And busy. The coming release of my album that involves returning to the UK fills me with dread! but its good work.
But You're the king and I hope to see you soon, maybe at the good old 606.

Hi Tony, How are you doing?
I am now in London!

Bill Barwell

August 13, 2010

Oh what a delight upon opening the guestbook to be musically enchanted with 'Fall in Love'.
As a petrol head I thought nothing could distract me from admiring million pound Supercars at the 2009 Festival of Speed at Goodwood in Sussex.
Buy hey I wasn't expecting to be stopped in my tracks by the superb sounds of Tony & Co.
I plonked myself down in a deckchair for the duration of a set, and then made myself known to say thanks.
I had decided that aspects of Tonys music particularly the ballads would be ideal for me to play to the patients of a local hospital through the radio service. Mentioning this to Tony he kindly donated a CD or two, and did the same again at this years Festival of Speed.
Can't remember when I last broadcasted without giving Tony an airing.

Maximum credit too for an artiste who writes his own stuff.

Bless and thank you Tony

Love Bill

Hi Tony,
Fantastic new site. Have had a good look at all the new features, some real good videos, pictures, and like your BIO, lets us know a bit more about your road to sucess!!!
Would like to know more about your up coming events, where and when..
Enjoyed your gig at Mickleton Village Hall with Uncle Bernard, the table was bouncing all over the place with all the good vibrations!!! lol
All is good and well at this end, fighting that road to heaven and only love itself will do nothing else. Uncle Bernard is well, he's just got back from another holiday on the Norfolk Broads on the long boats. Its done him a world of good apart from the few extra pounds, so he's off back to the gym.
Well all the best for the coming future, will look forward to another one of your brilliant gigs.

Take good care.....

Michael

Hi Groovemeister,

Cool revamp, really looks & sounds the business.

Chuffed with the 'link' in the 'links'.

Only thing missing for me is a 'lyrics' section [I would say that wouldn't I!], a hangover from '72 when I first picked up Stevie's 'Talking Book' and flipped to the back of the sleeve...

"... The many sounds that meet our ears, the sights our eyes behold, Will open up our merging hearts, And feed our empty souls..."

Hi Tony, Thanks for the info. Have not heard you live but like the tunes i've heard on line. I came across you by accident wondering if you were the same Tony who's dad used to work at Kodak many years ago. (you obviously were) I was an office junior and your dad worked in the stores. We often used to chat as i delivered the post and he was so proud of his son in a band called Arrival. I think i even got a signed photo! Many years later there was another connection. My late husband who was a guitar player was in a band with a bass player called Don who used to be in - you've guessed it - Arrival. Small world. Good luck with the new site. Keep me posted. Cheers Kathy.

Tony,
thanks for the update on the new web site design. I still really enjoy your music, Yours is one of the sweetest modern soul voices around, very relaxing, uplifting and highly appreciated.
If an automatic email link could be added that sends out your future shows that would be great, or have I missed it?
Have you checked out "livefromdarylshouse.com" if not find time to, especially the Eli "paperboy" Reed, Todd Rundgren, and Smokey Robinson episodes they are also fantastic!
